Beth Broadbooks
Listening Professional
Through one-on-one sessions, cohorts, and team trainings, I create space for people to slow down, ask deeper questions, and hear themselves think.
"The beauty of listening is that those who are listened to start feeling accepted, start taking their words more seriously and discovering their own true selves."
— Henri J.M. Nouwen, Bread for the Journey
Most of us have plenty of people in our lives ready to offer advice, opinions, or a plan. A listening professional does something rarer: slows down, stays genuinely curious, and creates the kind of space where you can hear yourself think — often for the first time.
It's a practice rooted in presence, not problem-solving. And in a world that moves very fast, it can be quietly transformative.
This work is not therapy and it isn't coaching. There's no agenda imposed on you and no pressure to arrive at a conclusion. The underlying belief is that the answers are already inside you. My role is to create the conditions for you to uncover them.
What is a Listening Professional?
Who is this work for?
If you're carrying something you haven't had space to process, whether it's a transition, a decision, a grief, or a question you can't quite articulate, this work is likely for you. You don't need to arrive with a clear goal or a specific problem. Many people come simply because they sense something needs attention, and they want a space to explore it without being told what to do next.
-
Leading can be lonely. You spend your days listening to others, solving their problems, carrying their weight — but who's listening to you? This is a place just for you, to be heard with whatever you're carrying.
-
Between the schedules, the noise, and the constant needs of everyone around you, you've lost track of your own voice. You're not looking for another task to add to your day — you're looking for a space where, for once, someone is listening to you. You're ready to receive the kind of presence you've spent years giving away.
-
You show up for your students day after day, offering patience and attention most people never received themselves. You're looking for tools to listen more deeply — to your students, and to yourself — without burning out in the process.
-
You sit with people in their hardest moments — grief, doubt, conflict, transition. You're carrying more than most people realize, and you're looking for a space to be met with the same presence you offer others.
-
Something in your life is shifting — a relationship, a career, a season you didn't expect. You don't need someone to tell you what to do next. You need space to hear your own voice again.
-
You've never done anything like this before, and you're not entirely sure what "deep listening" even means. You just know something in how you connect with others — or yourself — isn't quite working, and you're open to finding out why.

Kind wordsWhat people are saying
“Our turnover decreased by 50%, retention has skyrocketed, and as a result we have a company of skilled, committed, satisfied employees — all because deep listening has created a culture in which they feel seen, heard, and valued.”
— Esther Shore COO, Coffea Roasterie and Espresso Bar
“To be received and listened to by Beth is like when the sun's rays hit you in the spring and you sit in its warmth for the first time. She is attentive, non-judgmental, and she hears things I didn't even know were going on under the surface.”
— Haley Wiggers Spiritual Director and Associate Groups Pastor, Central Church
“Beth's ability to navigate complex conflict and find common ground in the midst of polarizing belief systems is unlike anything I have ever encountered.”
— Lexa Liedtke Founder, Lexa Quinn Marketing & Illustration
For more than a decade, I've sat with people in some of their most difficult moments —
leaders navigating toxic environments, communities fractured by political and theological division, and individuals healing from harm they experienced in the very spaces meant to care for them. What I've learned through all of it is this: the most powerful thing we can offer another person is the gift of being truly heard.
Through group cohorts, one-on-one listening sessions, and retreats, I create space for people to slow down, ask deeper questions, and reconnect — to themselves and to others. When people are connected to themselves and others, they can show up more fully in the workplace, navigate conflict in relationships, and live as their true selves. My work is shaped by years of doctoral research on deep listening, co-founding People Who See, and by every person who has trusted me with their story along the way.
